Tutor Group: Year 8
Event/Activity: Understanding Slavery Workshop
Year 8 Understanding Slavery workshops began today (Monday 8 February) when the Education Officer from the American Museum in Bath visited us to help us to learn about the lives of Enslaved Peoples as part of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Pupils focused their learning on 5 themes: life before the transatlantic Slave trade, trade and commerce, plantation life, resistance, and abolition and freedom. Pupils were able to handle and investigate artifacts and learned to hypothesis and interpret the function or purpose of that artifacts. Pupils then had a go at writing a museum label for one of the artefacts.
