Loca Netball Derby - HSMS vs Fairlands

Netball versus Fairlands Middle School.
March 7th
All four year groups were represented today at the annual netball competition between Fairlands and Hugh Sexeys. It was great to see so many girls taking part and I would like acknowledge all the other girls who have been regularly training in Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Also it has been great to have the support of Mrs. Callow and Mrs. Trinnick who have been coaching the key stage two teams this year.
All teams played four quarters of ten minutes.
I was fortunate to be able to umpire all four teams.
Year five played very well with some accurate shooting from Grace Brazier and captain Winnie White. They have certainly improved with their recent match experience at Strode College.  Two girls of the match Alex Thomas and Grace Brazier.
Year six played well having just played two hours of house netball. This was a close match and they never gave up. Girl of the Mach was Ella Woodcock .
Year seven had an exciting match and the strong defence led by Millie Thomas meant it was difficult for Fairlands to score. Girl of the match was Millie Court
Year eight have not had as many fixtures this term due to the production but this team played gracefully and with good team spirit. The two teams will be a strong force when they all play together in year nine. Alice Roy was voted team player of the match with very accurate Goal shooter skills.
The final scores....
Year five won 21-0
Year six lost 15-9
Year seven won 22-2
Year eight won 21-6
Congratulations to all netball players
