Year 6 Rugby vs Brent Knoll

The year 6 boys enjoyed a high paced tag rugby match against Brent Knoll in the impressive surroundings of Burnham Rugby club. Up until now we haven't played many competitive games with Brent Knoll and this fixture provided a lovely gateway for what will hopefully be a regular occurrence. The games were played in a great spirit with both teams showing good understanding and seeming to develop as the games wore on. Liam profited from the slick handling of Hugh Sexey by running in 4 slick tries. Rowan and Johnny also ran in good scores out wide after crisp handling. Johnny showing excellent juggling skills in the process. All of our players showed a real ability and demonstrated the core skills of running, catching, drawing and passing very well. They often made it look easier than it actually is. Ab was very impressive throughout. Often he took the ball right to the line and fired out sharp short passes once he had drawn the defenders. This helped unlock space for the likes of Henry, Charlie and Will. Indeed with Hugh Sexey throwing the ball about with such vim and vigour the Brent Knoll players often followed the perceived line of the ball and succumbed to some well timed dummies in midfield. Will and Henry doing this very well. Finley acted as a playmaker throughout - he showed an excellent range of passing skills and demonstrated a great understanding of how to put others into space. He was unlucky not to score on a number of occasions, but made a great contribution. The Brent Knoll players were not short on quality themselves and often the score tipped back and forth.

It was great to go to Burnham and a lovely opportunity to make a new connection with another School within our trust.
