Year 7 Trip to Skern Lodge (trip 1)
The children from 7RM,7GDA and the girls from 7SK ( and one boy from 7AW) travelled to Appledore in Devon to Skern Lodge training centre. The weather was very erratic , sometimes hailing and the next bright sunshine. Despite the climatic changes , the children enjoyed a variety of activities ranging from high ropes and throwing themselves into the leap of faith, to rafting on the river and paddling through tricky currents to crawling through narrow tunnels.
The evening activities included swimming in a beautifully lit outside pool and night walking on the beach.
I was impressed with the way the children never gave up despite being apprehensive at times. Many had said they could not do something but adopted the "I can't do it yet " approach and we're delighted when they seemed to achieve the impossible. Brilliant.
A very enjoyable and memorable start to the Skern trip.
