Year 7s have the Blue's

The year 7 team played 3 games of the Mid Somerset Cup last week. The home game aginst a well organised Wells Blue side was an exciting encounter with Hugh Sexey getting the opening goal against the run of play. Zack hit a cross come shot and after several ricochets the ball found its way into the back of the net. Hugh Sexey continued to press with Ellis and Nathan providing good outlets down the flanks. As the game wore on Oliver also ventured forward more freely, providing an overlap on numerous occasions. Unfortunately we just couldn't get the crucial second goal.

Wells Blue were a good team with a number of dangerous players. Our defence did a superb job of steming the flow of their attack but after a number of desperate last gasp saves by Kaden, a goal for them seemed more and inevitable; it eventually happened with the ball squirming in at the near post. With Wells Blue's confidence high they continued to push and twice Hugh Sexey nearly stole a goal on the break. First Will was just a fraction too far away at the far post and then the keeper frantically clearing the ball off his line after a superb attack. With seconds remaining Wells Blue got a corner and from the resulting play their big centre back grabbed a goal from a dangerous in swinging ball. Heart ache at the death but a game that showed a lot about the identy of the team and reinforced that football is a game based around small margins. Final score 2-1 to Wells Blue.
