Year 8 Rounders versus Wells Blue

The year eight girls have consistently enjoyed this sport since they began at school in year 5. Their skills reflected this commitment in a very enjoyable fixture held today at school.
Due to the large numbers of players we hosted an eleven a side match ( normal number in a team is nine) Wells Blue were short of a player and Lucy O kindly volunteered to play for the opposition as did Polly F .
The first innings was 33 good balls and our team fielded first. They looked like a well oiled machine with some great fielding from all the team. Evie CD ( captain) was able to throw with great accuracy to each post and despite a very new and hard ball the catching was good. Wells ended on 9.5 rounders.
When it was our turn to bat each girl batted well, Mary F and Rachel  displaying backhand technique which threw the opposition . We ended the first innings on 10.5.
After a second innings our girls increased their lead and the final score was 21 rounders  Hugh Sexey and 11.5 to Wells Blue.
Well done to all the team. A thoroughly enjoyable fixture played in good competitive spirit.
