Yr 8 Cricket- HSMS vs Fairlands

The year 8 team welcomed Fairlands, having lost to them in the first game of the season. A few new additions to the team, in Ollie Lewis and Owen Toleman added a little variety to the batting and bowling order.
Fairlands started brightly and the last few overs of the Fairlands innings contained a fair number of runs as their No 4 hit out to guide their team to a total of 91-3 despite the pressure of some good bowling and fielding. This was epitomised by a dangerous over from Zak Wilkinson that contained a couple of shots that dropped just short of fielders, a run-out attempt that was as close to being out as could be without being given, and a fine catch by Owen Toleman off George Ryan's final over.

Knowing the target to challenging but attainable, openers Charlie Jackson and Harry Banwell set about the chase with due care allied to attacking intent. With rarely a false shot played, they both found the boundary while seeing off the threatening opening bowlers and established a run chase that was always ahead of the required rate, even after a couple of wickets fell.
On his way to an unbeaten 45 , Banwell continued to make hay when joined by Wilkinson, and the two batsmen carried on scoring runs off an ever changing attack, comfortably seeing Hugh Sexey's home with overs to spare.

A fantastic performance to end a hugely enjoyable week's cricket.
