If you have ever travelled abroad, you will have been through Passport Control.

Your passport will be checked at the airport, ferry port or international railway station.

 

A passport is a document which shows who you are and where you come from.

Officier:       Bonjour Madame.

Voyageur:      Bonjour Monsieur.

Officier:       Ton passport, s’il vous plaît.

Voyageur:      Voilà! (hands over passport)

Officier:       Merci. Comment t’appelles-tu?

Voyageur:      Je m’appelle Alison Smith.

Officier:       Quel âge as-tu?

Voyageur:      J’ai trente-six ans.

Officier:       Quelle est la date de ton anniversaire?

Voyageur:      C’est le dix-neuf octobre.

Officier:       Quelle est ta nationalité?

Voyageur:      Je suis anglaise.

Officier:       Merci beaucoup, Madame. Voilà, bon voyage! (gives back passport)

Voyageur:      Merci monsieur! Au revoir!

  1. Find the following information: name / age / birthday / nationality.
  2. Listen again and practise saying the dialogue with a partner. You could pause the recording after each part to practice saying it out loud.
  3. Bring the dialogue to life by imagining how each person would behave. How do you think the traveller might feel? How should the border control officer behave for his job?Show what they are like by the way you speak and act.
  4. Change the name, age, birthday and nationality of the traveller.
  5. Practise saying it out loud until you feel confident enough to record it!
