Hugh Sexey remembers the Queen

On Tuesday 20^th September, the pupils of Hugh Sexey ended the period of national mourning by planting a tree to celebrate the life and service of Her Majestry Queen Elizabeth II.   Mrs Adair was joined by Mrs Harris and members of the Eco-club, as well as Chair of governors, Sue Moreman and our fantastic site team for the event.  The tree, a Ruby Falls Redbud tree was chosen for its beautiful flowers around the time of the Queens birthday as well as the heart-shaped burgandy leaves at this time of the year.  The Eco-club has accepted the responsibility of nurturing and protecting our new tree and will be looking after it as part of their weekly jobs.  The Queen was very fond of forests and woodlands as evidenced by the legacy she leaves behind in the 'Queen's Green Canopy" initiative and we hope she would have approved of our selection to mark her 70 years of service to her people, both near and afar.
