KS2 Sports Day

Bad weather threatened to stop both the year 5 and year 6 Sports Days on the morning of the event. Thankfully the rain held off and we were treated to two great days of sporting activity. I am not a meteorologist, but I have wondered if the positive attitude and energy shown by our pupils and the crowd contributed to keeping the weather at bay.

The year 5 Sports Day was unique as 3 records were broken. Fred Down set a new record in the 80m with a time of 10.92. Lola Barrett set a new 200m record with 32.86. In the long jump Olive Robarts Arnold leapt to a new School record with 4.00 metres. It was really lovely to see our year 5s enjoying their first Hugh Sexey Sports Day and I was delighted to see all of them contributing to the participation events, fun runs and track and field pursuits. The Normans secured top spot in the end but all of the pupils contributed to a terrific morning of Sport.

The Year 6 Sports Day was a close run event throughout. Like the gala before it, it was wonderful to see so many pupils engaged. Some year 6s have really embraced PE this year and given it a go when in the past they may have been reluctant. Their were some excellent races in the girls and boys track events and the crowd really helped generate a fabulous atmosphere.

The Saxons emerged as the overall winners.
