Together we believe; Together we achieve

À toi - your turn!

Today you are going to write and record an answer to these two questions:

1) Où habites-tu? Where do you live?

2) Qu'est-ce qu'il y a dans ta maison? What is in your house?

DON'T START YET! FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS...

Introduction

TASK 1: REGARDEZ, REVISEZ

To get you started, watch this ridiculous song AGAIN - these are exactly the sort of answers I'm looking for!

Ou habites-tu? Qu'est-ce qu'il y a dans ta maison?

A song to help you describe where you live

TASK 2: LOOK AT THE WRITING FRAME

Look at the writing frame again from last lesson - I've even added the English to help you...

TASK 3: WRITING IT   +  =

You will need paper and a pen, or a document, and the writing frame above.

1) Write down this question:

Où habites-tu? Where do you live?

Use the BLUE and YELLOW sections of the writing frame to make up an answer (it doesn't have to be true!)

2) Now write down this question:

Qu'est-ce qu'il y a dans ta maison? What is in your house?

Use the ORANGE and YELLOW sections of the writing frame to make up an answer.

You could also use the pink section to give an opinion on your home, or one of the rooms... with a reason!

If you want to be more creative, you can look up a different dwelling, add an adjective to describe it, or say different people you live with. You can also look up different rooms and adjectives to replace those in the writing frame.

TASK 4: NOW PRACTISE SAYING IT

Practise the questions and answers with these recordings - repeat what you hear.

Question: Où habites-tu?

Where do you live?

Question: Qu'est-ce qu'il y a dans ta maison?

What is there in your house?

J'habite dans...

I live in...

Dans ma maison, il y a...

In my house, there is...

TASK 5: LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

Record yourself saying the two questions and answers you've just written.

You can make a video or an audio recording.

If needed, here is a website where you can record yourself, and then save the recording:

Online Voice Recorder - Record Voice from the Microphone (online-voice-recorder.com)

Please upload your recording to today's assignment for me to see/hear!

If you are unable to record for any reason, please send me your written answers.

Good luck!

laugh Success Criteria Reminder: yes

CONTENT:

  • Use the structures we've learnt this term (J'habite... / Dans ma maison, il y a...)
  • Use the writing frame to write your answers
  • You can look up new dwellings, rooms and adjectives.
  • Include adjectives to describe rooms.

PRONUNCIATION:

  • Mimic the recordings to sound as French as you can.
  • Don't say the last letter in a word (unless the next word starts with a vowel)
  • Speak clearly and with good intonation

EXTRA TASK: UN PEU DE MUSIQUE!

Listen to this song by Patrick Fiori.

When you get to the chorus (0:52), you might recognise quite a lot of the words.

Or, just listen for enjoyment! smiley

It is about family - how family stays in our lives, how we lose people, and how new people can become part of your family.

EXTENSION CHALLENGE - try to transcribe (write down) and translate the first chorus! (from 52 seconds in)
