Curriculum Intent and Overview

Science Curriculum Intent:

At Hugh Sexey Middle School our Science curriculum provides pupils with a broad and balanced understanding of the three disciplines of Science.  We equip our pupils with the scientific knowledge they need to make informed decisions and reasoned choices as well as developing skills to understand the world they live in.  We believe that students deserve an aspirational Science curriculum, which ignites their curiosity and creative ideas; while fostering a spirit of independent inquiry, nurturing a growth mindset culture, and bringing current, relevant, real-world science into the classroom setting giving them the drive to expand their learning.  Our curriculum is diverse, can be accessed by all and allows our pupils to have a better understanding of the uses and implications of science past, present and future; leaving them able to apply their skills to the world around them.
