POURQUOI? - Giving reasons with verbs.

L'Objectif: I can give reasons why I like to spend my holidays where I do, using verbs.

Est-ce que tu préfères les vacances à la plage ou à la montagne? Pourquoi?

1-translate

a) I prefer holidays on the beach, because I like to go swimming.

b) I prefer holidays on the beach because I love to do water skiing.

c) I prefer holidays in the mountains because you can play in the snow!

2 –translate, including conjunctions:

a) I prefer holidays in the mountains because I love to go skiing and I like to do snowboarding.

b) I prefer holidays in the mountains because I like to do climbing, but I don’t like doing skiing.

c) I prefer holidays on the beach because you can go sunbathing, but I hate holidays in the mountains because I don’t like doing snowboarding.

3 –translate–use the writing frame creatively:

a) I like holidays in the mountains because I like to go skiing, but I prefer holidays on the beach because I love to play volleyball and also you can go swimming.

b) Because I hate swimming, I don't like holidays on the beach -I prefer holidays in the mountains because you can go climbing.

4 –translate by adding in extra vocab you already know or looking up new words to add:

a) When it snows, I prefer holidays in the mountains because I love to go skiing -however, when it is hot I prefer the beach because I like to sunbathe.

b) I love holidays on the beach because you can paddle in the sea or build a castle in the sand, but my mother hates the beach because she doesn't like to swim and she hates sunbathing!

5 -create similar sentences of your own, with well-developed reasons, including:-time phrases of frequency normally, from time to time, sometimes (see vocab mat)-extra conjunctions, such as however/although/therefore (use a dictionary)-different activities
