Mounted Police visit HSMS

On Monday 15th May pupils and staff were treated to a visit from the Avon and Somerset Police Mounted section.  Pupils were able to ask Officer Rowan and Officer Tristian about what it was like to be a mounted police officer, including their training, career progression and daily and specail duties.  Pupils also found out about some of the civilian jobs that are needed to support the mounted section such as the work of grooms and estate managers.  Officer Rowan talked to pupils about how they select the horses to use for mounted policing and Officer Tristian helped pupils understand how they keep themselves and the horses safe while on patrol.  It was lovely to have horses Windsor and Redcliffe and the officers on our school field for the lunchtime event and a great way for pupils to interact in a positive way with law enforcement.
