Year 8 Mechanical Vending Machine Project

Pupils in Year 8 have been working on a real ‘problem solving’ example of a design and make model by creating a small-scale mechanical vending machine. During theory lessons pupils have learnt how mechanical systems are used in products to enable movement and force. Pupils have applied their theory knowledge by using the ‘iterative design process’ to create a model prototype of their mechanical vending machine design prior to making the final product including any modifications along the way. This is a skill pupils will require in KS4 DT. Pupils have produced some fantastic products which demonstrate excellent engineering and creativity.
