  • Under 13s School National Rugby finals

Mon 09 May 2016 Mr Waterfield
We are proud to announce that HSMS U13 girls came 3rd in the Country in the Schools Nationals Rugby finals at Lichfield RFC.

The girls were absolutely superb, despite being the 'smallest' as all other schools were huge!
They played in a pool with 5 other teams, with 1 school pulling out due to injuries, and we finished the group coming second; they were so close to getting 1st place, with only 1 try difference!

They then played Tonbridge School for the 3rd and 4th play off, and won 2-0.

Huge congratulations to all the girls, and thank you to both staff and parents for all your support this season.

  • Sailing Championships

Mon 09 May 2016 Mr McGrath

Well done to Finlay Oliver who competed at the Eric Twiname Sailing Champs this weekend. Finley is pictured in the centre, sail number 5902.

  • Year 6 Cricket

Mon 09 May 2016 Mr McGrath

Commiserations to the year 6 cricket team who lost out to a talented All Hallows side in the Saracens cup. The final score 329 to 245. George Nuttycombe performed very well with the bat and bowl. Tom Spinks also played well, hitting some strong 4s and bowling with purpose. The boys and girls should be pleased with the way they performed and they can now look forward to competing in the Whylie Shield.

Thanks also to Mr Albrow for his hard work with the team.

  • Year 7 Normandy Trip Day 4

    Fri 06 May 2016
Today we trod in the footsteps of the pilgrims of centuries past, walking across the bay to Mont. St. Michel. The weather was beautiful, and we were guided across by two local experts. We spent the afternoon on the island, having a short tour and visiting the souvenir shops.

In the evening, pupils came to dinner dressed in French costumes - some of which were incredible - have you ever seen six people dressed as bunches of grapes? - and we tasted snails... The photos speak for themselves...

We have had a great week at La Grand' Ferme, and look forward to coming home tomorrow. A bientôt, tout le monde!
  • Year 7 Normandy Trip-day 3

Thu 05 May 2016 Miss Kendall
    Here is today's update:

Today has been a day out and about. We visited a busy market in the town of St. Hilaire, where pupils shopped for ingredients for a picnic lunch... and a few souvenirs! In the afternoon, we visited the goat farm where pupils were able to stroke, feed, brush, and in a couple of cases even milk the goats!
  • Year 7 Normandy Trip - day 2

Wed 04 May 2016 Miss Kendall
    Normandy - Day 2

Today we spent the day getting used to life at La Grand' Ferme, and doing activities here and at the nearby Chateau de la Baudonnière. Pupils have been making bread, swimming, and doing archery and orienteering. They are starting to get used to hearing all the instructions in French, and looking and listening for clues to help! In the evening the pupils took part in a treasure hunt and initiative exercises before enjoying some free time playing volleyball, football, and watching the bats flying overhead.

Oh, and many happy returns of the day to Charlie!
  • Voilà!, Year 7 Normandy Trip: day 1

Tue 03 May 2016 Miss Kendall
    Year 7 French trip - day 1

After a very early start, we arrived in Poole in plenty of time for the ferry. The  crossing was good and quite calm, and the sun was shining when we arrived in Cherbourg. Our first stop was the 360 degree cinema in Arromanches, where we saw some astounding and moving footage of the D-Day landings. In the background of the photo are some of the famous Mulberry Harbours, whch allowed Arromances to be used as a temporary port to bring in troops and supplies for the attack. We finally arrived at La Grand' Ferme just in time for dinner, and pupils just had time to settle into their rooms and have a tour of the site before going to bed for a much needed sleep!

    Bonne nuit!
  • Harriet plays golf for Wales Under 16s

    Tue 03 May 2016
During the Easter Holidays Harriet Lockley was selected to play golf for Wales U16 against Ireland at Cardigan Golf Club on 29th -31st March.
This was her first International selection and she received the full Welsh team uniform - she was rightfully pleased and proud to be selected for her country.

She won her foursomes match but lost her singles - not a bad result.

The Welsh team won 7-2, so a winning start on her Welsh team debut.
