  • Double Winners!

Wed 02 May 2018 Mr Waterfield
On the 26th April our U12s and U13s boys football teams went to play in the Mid Somerset Football Finals at Millfield Kingweston Pitches.

U12 boys were up against Wells Blue and Millfield Prep in a 3 way triangular match.
We played Wells Blue first and won the game comfortably 5-0. Goals scored by Theolinouis Jagger X2, Jacob Aberdeen X2 and Sam Callow.
After a quick break we then played Millfield Prep and won 3-0. Goals were scored by Sam Callow, who scored a great top corner finish, Jacob Aberdeen and an own goal which was a consolation for Ben Crook who was harshly denied a goal which would have been a contender for goal of the season.
It was very pleasing to watch as the boys showed great team effort and played as a team. It was the best football I have seen them play this season by far.

U13s boys were up against Millfield Prep, playing on a large pitch. Hugh Sexey's scored first after a well taken goal by George Moss who slotted home. The game then became very exciting to watch with both teams playing great football. Both goal keepers were on fine form keeping the ball out of the net with some superb saves. Millfield then scored after a defensive error from Hugh Sexey's. The game finished as 1-1.
After a short break we then went into extra time, Hugh Sexey's changed the formation and went back to 4-4-2. Both teams kept battling on, again both goal keepers were tested and put in a string of superb saves. George Moss then became the hero of the day after out muscling the defence to put the ball in the back of the net to put Hugh Sexey's 2-1 up. The boys then went on and protected the lead.
Congratulations to the lads, you all deserve the success, they have sadly played their last match for Hugh Sexey's. I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching these boys throughout the football season.

  • Houses of Parliament Trip

Tue 01 May 2018 Mrs Taylor Adair
On Thursday 19th April, 30 pupils from HSMS travelled to London for a visit to the Houses of Parliament.  We were so lucky that the weather was gorgeous and we were able sit in the sunshine to eat our lunch before our session.  Our tour took in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.  We were very fortunate the listen to discussion in both the houses.  In the Commons, the discussion was on the topic of increasing funding and signing up for a national data register to improve the medical treatment of Brain Cancer.  In he House of the Lords, the discussion was about Britain's involvement in the war in Syria.  We participated in a workshop as well, where the children worked through the electoral process - I am pleased to announce that the 'Sunshine Party' successfully formed a coalition government with the Green Pea Pod Party.  Our MP, James Heappey visited HSMS the following day to speak to KS3 about his work and the work of MPs in general.  He fielded some great questions (some quite challenging) from the pupils.
