The year seven team travelled to Oakfield school in Frome on Tuesday to play in the year seven tournament .
The girls played well and enjoyed some very good competitive games. The captain Kitty led by example and supported her team brilliantly on the court and at the sidelines .
It was great to see some new faces playing for the school .
The teams present were Selwood , Oakfield and Wells Blue . Hugh Sexey came third with Selwood finishing in first.
Well done .
It was good to welcome our feeder first schools today for the annual first schools netball festival.

Hugh Sexey year 5 helped support the event too.
The pupils played slightly longer matches than in previous years and it was exciting to see the enthusiasm and talent on display .
Thank you to the year eight sports leaders for their support with coaching and umpiring the event.
Hugh Sexey year five girls played a high standard of netball and gave our first schools a fine example of team spirit.

A very enjoyable festival .
KS2 Cross Country at Millfield.
The final race of the Mendip Junior Schools Cross Country League 2023/24 was held at Millfield Prep School in Glastonbury.
Our runners have performed admirably throughout the season and several had their best performance of the season in the final race.
Our Years 5&6 Boys team finished in an excellent fifth place out of 32 schools and our Years 5&6 Girls team achieved a fantastic bronze medal winning third place out of 25 schools.
Year 7 have been studying Space in their science lessons and as part of topic they have created some amazing models of the solar system; here are a few of them.
On Friday 8th March, Jess (5OM) took part in an adult demonstration team in the Kennel Club activity area of Crufts. Jess spent 30 minute sessions in the "Pen" with her dog Ginny, answering questions about the sport and about herself and Ginny.
The following day, Saturday 9th March, Jess took part in the Young Kennel Club KC Rally competition; at 9 years old, Jess was the youngest competitor present.
After a great round, Jess was placed 2nd (Reserve). The eldest competitor (aged 23) won the competition.
What an amazing achievement Jess; well done!
To celebrate World Book Day last week pupils and staff came dressed as characters from their favourite books.
BOOKFAIR Huge thanks to all of the parents, carers and guardians who supported the school Book Fair - we raised a whopping £1265.56. This will give us significant rewards to spend with Scholastic for new books over the year and makes a massive difference to the library. We will be delivering the orders on Friday 22nd March when the items are delivered to us. It was lovely to see so much enthusiasm from our budding readers! Many thanks to our fabulous pupil Librarians who gave up their time to help support the event, it wouldn't have been possible without their help.
Madox (5IB) came first and won the Junior Orienteering Group Spring Championships with the Quantock Orienteers.
He has been doing Orienteering for a year and has overcome a number of difficult sessions and competitions - pushing through wind, rain and shine, crossing a lot of rivers and up and down hills to achieve this result. What an amazing achievement; well done Madox.
Tristan (7RMG) performed brilliantly in 2 classes at Highbridge Arts Festival last week; he entered the percussion category with his drum kit and also accompanied grade 4-5 solo. Tristan came away with two gold medals, including a distinction in one. Very well done Tristan.
It was good to welcome the netball teams from Fairlands . Each year group was represented in this annual competition between the two middle schools . The event got underway despite the very damp and cold conditions.
Year 7 and year 5 started. It was a very close battle for the year sevens and the ball was travelling fluidly up and down the court. A last minute net from captain Kitty saw the final score at 2-1 to Hugh Sexey
The year five played brilliantly in their first match for the school . Olive the captain led her team to victory and the final score 7-1 to Hugh Sexey
Year eight and six played next. It was good to see the other teams cheering for their school.
Year eight played very calm netball and finally won 7-2 . Some excellent shooting from Tabitha and Sophia . Year six have been very keen at club and they played very good netball . Xanthe and Eva shot well and eventually won 8-2
Thank you to Mrs Pople from Fairlands for all her hard work in getting her teams to us here at school .
Very encouraging netball from both schools.
