Adjectives for describing rooms

Find some paper or open a document to record today's work.

L'objectif: To be able to write and understand EXTENDED sentences about rooms.

TASK 1: QUELLE EST LA PROBLÈME?

Copy out the sentences and fill in the missing word:

a) Dans ma maison, il y a ____ salon.

b) Dans ma maison, il y a ____ cuisine.

Copy out this sentence, but REMOVE the word which shouldn't be there:

c) Dans ma maison, il y a deux une chambres.

What does the incorrect sentence say?

TASK 2: REGARDEZ LA VIDÉO

Learn the adjectives, and see which go BEFORE or AFTER the noun...

Seven Adjectives to Extend Your Sentences

These adjectives could all be used to describe ROOMS.

TASK 3: ÉCOUTEZ et ÉCRIVEZ

Look at the writing frame and the recordings below.

Listen to each track, and write the sentence down in FRENCH and ENGLISH.

Use the writing frame to check spellings.

If you want a bigger challenge, or if it is difficult to scroll up and down, try writing what you hear without looking at the writing frame, then look back at it to check your spellings.

BONUS MARKS if you get the plural and adjective endings right!

Writing down what you hear in French is called TRANSCRIPTION.

1)

TASK 4: ÉCOUTER, LISEZ et PARLER

Now you have written them down, listen to each recording again, and read the sentence out loud for yourself. Mimic the recording as closely as you can.

No-one is listening, so take the opportunity to practise - train your mouth to say the words!

TASK 5: TRADUISEZ

Now translate the 6 sentences below into French.

Use the writing frame again to help you. Do NOT use a translator, you don't need to!

For a greater challenge, write the sentences in French from memory first, then look back at the writing frame to check your answers.

1) In my house, there is a small garage.

2) In my house, there is a big kitchen.

3) In my house, there is a living room of medium size.

4) In my house, there is a strange bathroom.

5) In my house, there is a big, old-fashioned dining room.

6) In my house, there is a big, old-fashioned study and three small comfortable bedrooms.
