Design Technology Intent Statement:
At the centre of the HSMS Design & Technology curriculum is creativity and imagination. Design and Technology curriculum at HSMS gives students the opportunity to apply and develop a broad range of different disciplines including maths, science, computing, business studies and Art. Students develop their capability, combining their designing and making skills with knowledge and understanding, in order to create quality products. Learning about Design and Technology at HSMS will help our students understand the world in which they are living, and actively engage in it.
The curriculum is designed to be diverse giving all students the opportunity to learn the skills and knowledge to engage positively with materials, components, products and harness the benefits of technology to improve the world around them. Through these types of activities students are actively contributing to the creativity, culture, wealth and well-being of themselves and their community.
The curriculum is aspirational, giving pupils the skills to have the strength of character to know that they can learn from their mistakes and create a better product in the future through practising and developing the skills and knowledge that they are experiencing across the material areas of Resistant Materials and Food and Nutrition.
