Où es-tu? Saying where you are (au/à la/aux)
To say where you are, you need this tiny word:
à = at/to
So...
Je suis à la plage = I am at the beach. (I wish I was!)
Je suis à l'école = I am at the school. (Alas...)
Something funny happens when à meets le...
...à + le turns into au (pronounced 'oh')
e.g. I am at the café = Je suis au café.
Something similar happens when à meets les...
...à + les turns into aux (also pronounced 'oh')
e.g. I am at the shops = Je suis aux magasins.
