Cheddar RFC host triangular rugby festival.

Cheddar RFC had the lovely idea of hosting a triangular rugby festival with the intention of giving non club players the opportunity to enjoy the game of rugby. Club players were allowed to take part but it was agreed that we would have no more than half on a pitch at any point. The premise worked like a dream. Club player and Captain Finley fulfilled his role perfectly. He lead by example in attack and defence and encouraged all the players around him throughout. This meant that on a wet, cold and windy day the ball was moving freely and with great skill. Finley capped off a wonderful performance with a deserved try against Wells Blue. It was really so very pleasing to see Charley, Vinnie, Frankie, Eric, Archie, Lewis, Jagger, Marley and Frank representing the school at rugby. All of these players showed great ability and courage and whilst I am aware that many already have sporting commitments any rugby team would value and welcome their attitude and ability. Lewis continues to develop and mature as a person and player and his finely taken hat trick was just reward for his hard work. Two other players who really caught the eye were Sam and Oli. Sam has always been a hardworking and diligent team player but it was a pleasure to see him run in two finely taken try's, one expertly crafted by the mercurial Vinnie. Oli was great both sides of the ball and he went through the gears for a superbly taken try.
Many thanks to Cheddar and thanks to Fairlands and Wells for two great games.
