Cricket - Round 2 of the Frank Steer U13 Memorial Shield

   Final score:

Hugh Sexey, Blackford:   87 for 7 (20 overs)

   Sexey's, Bruton:              78 all out (19.0 overs)

Hugh Sexey won by 9 runs

On the same day as the ICC Champions Trophy got exciting with a big run chase by Sri Lanka to defeat India, Hugh Sexey had a hard fought and tense finish win through to the semi-final of the Somerset school's cricket cup for U13s.

Hugh Sexey batted first with Sam Tucker top scoring on 23 and Charlie Jackson also achieving doubled figures.

A mid innings rally by Sexey's Bruton made for the tense finish but three wickets taken by Hugh Sexey in 10 balls led to the end of their innings with one over remaining.

Hugh Sexey's  bowling was, at times, prolific with George Nuttycombe taking three wickets and George Ryan and Jacob Westbrook each taking two.  Strong fielding played it's part too in the victory including good catches by Ed Phillips, Zak Wilkinson, Sam Tucker, Harry Banwell and "the legend" who is Morgan Roberts.

The game was played in a wonderful spirit by both teams and our thanks to Sexey's Bruton for a competitive and very enjoyable match.
