Cricket - the Ed Lamb Shield

Many congratulations to the year 8 cricket team who managed to hold onto a 132 score in a 16 over cricket match against the year 7s. George and Sam were proud winners as they guided their team through a turbulent middle innings. The game has now become part of the Hugh Sexey summer fixtures, and the year 7s began to scare the 8s. Will O performed very well with batt and hit a number of boundary shots. Will C also gave a lesson on how to stay in bat for 16 overs, often taking on the role of supporting batsman; an usual position for Will but one he served manfully. Ultimately a Tom S catch prevented Oli from building on his impressive score alongside. An early dismissal for the potent batsman Alex also helped the 8s curb the year 7s score.
It was a fine game played in a good spirit. The game was played for the Ed Lamb shield - a trophy to celebrate  Mr Lamb, a member of staff who has done so much for PE at Hugh Sexey but now embarks on his first teaching post at Churchfield Primary.
