First School Cross Country at HSMS
It was so lovely to welcome some of our first schools for the cross-country meeting held at school on Thursday 10th March.
Mr Jackson's cross-country team , with some of our year eight sports leaders , were very helpful in the running of the event.
Representatives from Wedmore, Weare, Lympsham , East Brent and Axbridge first schools were present.
Some of the Hugh Sexey team were hares and guided the younger children through the course.
The year threes set off in the first race and completed a full lap of the school field . Each of the runners gave their very best and all finished successfully .
The year fours then completed two laps of the field and the fitness levels were very impressive.
After some quick calculations from Mr Jackson, medals were awarded for first , second and third place in each year group - separate medals for boys and girls.
We also awarded a cup to the winning school overall which this year went to Wedmore .
A lovely, positive event with great support from our first school families . This comment was gratefully received from a first school colleague .
