First Schools' Gymnastics Festival

t was very good to welcome our first school pupils back to the gym. We have been unable to host this event for a while due to Covid . 

We welcomed Axbridge, Mark, Lympsham , East Brent , Wedmore and Weare schools . It was also good to see so many supporters. 

There were roughly 70 Year three and four pupils. The aim of the event is for the pupils to experience some of the gymnastic activities they will take part in when they are pupils here at Hugh Sexey. 

After a fun warm up... the "bean game" ( fast becoming a Hugh Sexey favourite) led by the year eight sports leaders , pupils worked alongside each other to vault, climb, jump, roll and balance. 

It was thoroughly enjoyable and despite the large numbers , a very positive gymnastics experience for all. 

Thank you to the year eight sports leaders who did a great job helping and supporting the younger pupils. Special mention to our year six gym leaders - Isla, Lilia ( with broken collar bone) Lily and Mia .
