Girls U11’s Football, Mendip School Games

13th October 2016.
Squad: Cerys Webb, Maddie Durrant, Edie Pargeter, Jessie Woodcock, Jemima Thurling, Mary Flanagan, Sophia Charalambous, Millie Pargeter, Lowenna Jackson-Voysey & Philippa Griffiths.
All of the girls were competing for Hugh Sexeys in a football tournament for the very first time. They were up against 5 other school teams: Elmhurst A & B, Walton, Springmead and Fairlands. Their first 3 games ever as a team ended in wins with scores of 6-0, 7-0 & 4-0. All the girls played fantastic football, passing and moving and working together as a team. 5 different goal scorers, highlighting the team’s strength. They then played out a 0-0 draw with Elmhurst A, putting in a great defensive display and were very unlucky in front of goal. Final game of the tournament was against Fairlands. After an end to end game Jessie Woodcock scored with the final kick of the match to seal a 4th win from 5 games.  All the girls were excellent and special mention to Edie Pargeter who kept her concentration in goal to help the team win the tournament without conceding a goal! This means the girls will now go on to represent the Mendip Area in the county finals on the 13/01/17.
