KS2 Hockey Matches vs Fairlands 14.11.18

The teams set off from school at 3pm . It was inspiring to take such an enthusiastic and keen group of younger players to their first away match.
There were four teams in total. - 5 A and 5B and 6A and 6 B . At this age the girls play seven a side.
Many thanks to both Mary and Lowenna from year eight who had their first experience of umpiring.
Year 5
Both teams have been extremely excited and prepared for this competition. The A team have been very dedicated at club and showed great potential in defence . They faced a very strong opposition and did not give up at any point. Captain, Ruby was voted player of the match by Fairlands. The final score was 8-0 to Fairlands. The B team enjoyed their match, umpired by Mary and shared their roles around. They were ahead by one goal after the first half but in the last moment Fairlands scored an equaliser. The final score was 1-1
Year Six
The A team got off to a great start. There was some extremely resilient tackling from the girls and at the end of the first half, the team were ahead by two goals. Great defence from Annabelle and some fine moments of attack from Amelie and Anna. Fairlands equalised in the second half and the final score was 2-2. The B team had a goal - less first half. Lowenna and myself umpired the second half and the girls scored an early goal. Great performances from each player.
The final score was 3-0 to Hugh Sexey.
Many thanks to Mrs. Callow for her continual support.
It is very exciting that so many of our girls are experiencing hockey in the Cheddar Valley at such a young age from both schools.
A fun afternoon enjoyed by all who came, played and supported. Well done.
