Mendip Junior Schools Cross Country League - Race 1

Years 5&6 cross country - Race 1

15 runners from Years 5 & 6 represented Hugh Sexey in the first race (of five) of the Mendip Junior Schools Cross Country League.  The first race was a 2 kilometre course at Tor Leisure in Glastonbury.

Owing to 2020 to being, well, 2020, all 15 were making their debuts in Hugh Sexey colours.  It was a fantastic event with hundreds running and lots of spectators too.  Well done to all our 15 who were anxious but eager to run and all gave their best.

Our runners were Bo, Libby, Lulu, Meghan, Poppy G, Poppy S, Adam, Henry, Josh and Noah from Year 6 and Bella, Bethany, Euan, Laurence and Tristan from Year 5.

With no previous experience to go by, I was very pleasantly surprised to see Poppy S and Libby leading after the first lap, only for them to be even more amazing in the second lap and stretch their leads further.  Poppy finished first and Libby second.

In the boys race, our first two home were Noah and Euan who both ran very strong and sensibly paced races.
