Remembrance Week

Pupils and Staff were incredibly busy in their preparations for Remembrance Week.  Firstly, many departments contributed work they had created in their study of the First World War to the 'Wedmore Remembers' exhibition at Wedmore village hall.  From the comments in the visitor's book, it seems that their effort was well received by the public.  On the Wednesday of Remembrance week, two former HSMS pupils, Anna LIttlewood-Hillsdon and Alex Cramp (now at Kings of Wessex) travelled with Mrs Adair and Mr Broad to London to attend an awards ceremony at the Tower of London.  The award, given by University College London was in recognition of their work on their World War One Centenary Battlefields Tour Legacy Project.  We were one of five schools honoured from across the country.  Finally, on Friday HSMS welcomed representatives from both local Royal British Legion branches, as well as former and serving Armed Forces personnel to our Remembrance service.  I extend a special thank you to our Cadets for their contribution to the service.  As always, the pupils rose to the occasion and conducted themselves with the utmost respect for the fallen.  This year the wreaths laid by each class were in commemoration of VC and DCM recipients from the Somerset Light Infantry
