Stanley drove his super-fast Rotax Micro Max powered Race Kart to two convincing, outright victories on both Saturday and Sunday including fastest laps at both circuits, competing in the Southern UKIKR double header winning against a very experienced and competitive grid. Many teams and competitors had travelled more than 5 hours to attend.
“I’m thrilled to have won at both Clay Pigeon (in Dorset) and Mansell (in Devon). These are my most local circuits that I race at, so I knew them quite well. My kart ran perfectly all weekend and I got great starts in both races after qualifying in pole position for both events. I was feeling the pressure on Sunday towards the end of the race and I was very tired but managed to keep it all together in the tricky conditions which suited my driving style. Racing is very competitive, and everything needs to be working well for wins to be possible. Both me and my dad spend lots of time working on my race kart to make sure it’s the best it can be. Thanks to all the help from Gas Safe Bristol, Bristol Air Conditioning, Go Green Solar, APC Work Wear, AAM Race engines and my dad who worked really hard to set up my kart for the changeable weather. Without the support from my sponsors and my family, I wouldn’t be able to compete.”
9 year old Stanley, from Lympsham, first sat in a go-kart when he was only five years old and when he turned 8 yrs old, he took up karting competitively, entering the all electric TKZ karting championship run by Rob Smedley, a former F1 engineer at Ferrari and Williams. Stanley showed great promise and pace in his first season finishing 10th out of 41 highly skilled competitors.
Stanley, who holds a national ARKS racing licence, is taking part in the UKIKR Summer championship and is already leading his class in the Southern Championship. Stanley is now preparing for his next race in Hampshire on the weekend and is hopeful for another class and outright win.
