The BIG Award!

We are pleased to announce that the school has achieved the BIG award. This is a national award for excellence in bullying intervention. Our well being ambassadors and staff have worked hard to ensure we are supporting the emotional well being of our young people.
Here is what the director of BIG said about us:

Hugh Sexey Middle School have very high standards when it comes to the welfare of their students. The school takes bullying very seriously. Bullying can happen in any school, so Hugh Sexey have a wide range of strategies in place to both prevent and address bullying. They have a robust anti-bullying policy, they have Anti-bullying Ambassadors who are trained to listen to their peers if they want to talk to someone, they also have regularly trained staff who are confident in dealing with friendship and bullying issues. They involved the students and their parents in their anti-bullying work, this is the key to preventing bullying. Their THINK TWICE campaign is excellent and makes students think about their behaviour towards others. I am so pleased to award this to the school for their first year, and hope they will continue to achieve the BIG Award for Excellence in Challenging Bullying for many years to come.
