Weston Super Mare College
Our U11s travelled to Weston Super Mare to represent the school in the county finals. We took a strong squad but sadly were missing our goal scorer Dylan.
The first game we played was against a school from Portishead; we started the game well and scored the first goal. Portishead came back strongly and scored two late goals. The final score was 2-1 to them.
Our next game was against Eastover school from Bridgwater - what a good tough game that was. It was a very good game and ended in a 1-1 draw after a superb goal from Jack Millford.
The third game was against St Patricks - we scored an early goal and protected the lead, a very good tactical plan from the boys! We won 1-0. It was very difficult to play football on a small pitch with small goals.
The fourth game was against a school from Yeovil - the boys used the same tactical plan: to score an early goal and protect the lead. Harry Suik scored a superb goal and fantastic goal keeping from Turrell kept us in the game!
In the semi-final we played Taunton School - they were an excellent side, a quick tempo passing team, which caught my eye a few times when they were playing. The game ended 0-0 and went to penalties - sadly it wasn't our day from the penalty spot and we lost the shootout. The saying "that's football for you, and it can be a cruel game" is certainly true!
The boys were superb, played really well as a team, and we all had a great day. Well done boys.
