Under 11s Girls' Football - County Qualifiers.

Frome College was the venue for the girls under 11s football County qualifiers. We entered two very excited sides and all of the girls got lots of football on what was a bitterly cold and windy afternoon. St Pauls, Selwood and Oakfield also entered teams and the standard was very high and committed throughout.

In our first game we played against each other and an equal game ended in a 0-0 draw with both sides having chances. Lucy did very well in goal in that game and stopped a number of powerful shots at goal. Abbie and her team thought they had snatched victory at the end, when Abbie turned and struck a neat shot into the bottom corner. Unfortunately for one team, but fortunately for the other, the full time whistle had already blown.

For the rest of the competition the girls played continuously in their teams with little rest between games. This was a blessing considering the weather and the girls only got better and better. Evie gave a number of very commanding performances mixing energy and a tenacious attitude with an eye for a pass and a goal. Bonnie and Abbie were prolific throughout with both girls scoring hat tricks in separate games. Bella looked very assured in her first game and her partnership and understanding with Abbie was one of the highlights of the day. Tilly, Daisy, Annabelle, Becca and the two Ruby's also played very well throughout and showed some nice touches. Lucy performed very well in a number of different roles on the pitch. Her dribbling and passing was sharp throughout. It was also a delight to see Alexa and Liberty representing the school and many thanks to Grace who stepped in as a replacement and performed brilliantly.
At the end of the day both sides finished joint third.
All the girls should be immensely proud of their performance. They were a pleasure to take on a fixture.
