Under 13s Cricket - Schools' Indoor Cup
Commiserations to the boys under 13s cricket team who were unable to progress to the next round of the Schools indoor cup. A strong start was made against Chilton, with Sam Tucker, George Nuttycombe, Will Creaser and Tom Spinks all hitting big scores in the allotted 6 overs. Some ambitious and well placed shots were used against their efficient bowling order and it meant that with a score of 46 to beat their batters had to come out swinging. Will Flavin was first to profit from this catching a ball of a Lewis Richards bowl. Richards then took the following wicket and the boys were on a roll. Creaser, Ollie Richards and Nuttycombe all bowled well reducing Chilton to 15. As Chilton had only just lost to Haygrove, the boys went into the final match in buoyant mood. The decision was made to change the batting order to give others a chance. A noble and considerate gesture. The batting team protected their wicket well but brave fielding by Haygrove meant that after Nuttycombe retired runs were drastically reduced culminating in a 33 run total. When Haygrove stepped into batt they were able to hit a few early runs and capitalise on some rare Hugh Sexey errors. With 3 boys left Haygrove eclipsed our score and with that progressed to the next round.
Congratulations to Haygrove and best of luck for the next round.
