Year 5 House Football Competition

Year 5

The Year 5 House Football competition will go in Hugh Sexey history as a classic. It had drama, passion and lots of goals. It was the year 5s first House competition and they were a credit to themselves, their Houses and the School. I was delighted to see all of the year group play an active part in the games. The Challenge competition was full of excitement. Celts were the winners with 2 wins and a draw. Thomas, Parker and Finley were outstanding throughout the competition and have grown in confidence this term. Morton played brilliantly for the Celts and he was instrumental in their success. Harry of the Celts was a real poacher in front of goal, scoring 5 goals to be the top scorer in the Challenge Cup. Harry of the Vikings was player of the tournament and he showed strength , speed and skill in all 3 games. The final game between Celts and Saxons was a brilliant spectacle. The game finished 3-2 to the Celts. Marley grabbing 2 for Saxons who nearly clinched a draw at the end. Vikings finished 2nd in the Challenge Cup with Normans 3rd.

The Premier Competition had some high scoring games with Saxons winning 7-1 and Vikings winning 6 – 0. In the end the Competition went to goal difference with Saxons getting 1st place, Celts 2nd and Vikings 3rd. Josh of the Vikings was player of the day. He showed excellent close control and scored a number of crucial goals. Dan, Will, Joe and George of the Celts played really well throughout. Albert of the Vikings was a standout player. He did the basics really well and chipped in with some timely moments of attacking flair and some key goals. He inspired those around him and was always looking to motivate his team mates. The top goal scorer was Henry and he was a constant thorn in the oppositions side with his intelligent runs into the oppositions area.

The overall winners were Celts in what was a very level competition throughout.
