Year 6 rugby at Cheddar RFC
After school on Wednesday, a group of eleven Year 6 boys went to Cheddar RFC to play against Fairlands. The idea behind the game was to encourage participation in those boys who do not currently play rugby at clubs outside of school. In our squad, Reuben, Ronnie, Archie, Xav and two of the Harrys play for clubs so had to be rotated as per the format of the match. All showed great sportsmanship and although they all wanted to play the whole game were very supportive of their teammates. Ray, two more Harrys, Michael and Louis all played very well. Ultimately our superior teamwork, quick handling, speed and strength were too much for the opposition and Hugh Sexey ran out easy winners.
After the match all the players were invited into the club house for a drink and hotdog. Mrs Jarrett was especially delighted when a member of the rugby club came to find her to say how polite all the boys had been and that they were a credit to the school.
