Year 6 Sports Day

The year 6 sports day was a great day of fun events and record breaking performance. The collaborative events proved to be very popular with the new addition of the obstacle race fitting in nicely beside capture the flag, start relay and the tug of the war. It was great to see all of the boys and girls so engaged and there were a number of stand out performances. The boys 1500m turned into a very interesting race with Lewis and Charlie neck and neck all the way until the finish. It was a record breaking performance in the girls race, with Emmie breaking Emily Derrick's record from 2005 with a time of 5.51. When Emmie set off at the start we did wonder if she would be able to hold onto the pace but she seemingly got quicker in the final lap. Emmie later set a record in the girls 400m with a time of 1 minute 20 seconds and Charlie set a time of 1 minute 18 seconds. It was the first time we ran that race in keystage 2 so it will be interesting to see how long those times last. Jess also had a great day on the track with a number of 1st place finishes. Grace should also be pleased with her performance as she was competitive in every race and got a mass of points for her house. Other stand out performances came from Archie, Sam, Harry, Isabelle, Autumn and Emilia to name a few.

All of the athletes involved should be very proud of how much dedication they showed in the events. In the end the Vikings emerged as the winners but it was the participation and support of all the athletes that made it a special day. Thanks also to the parents, staff and sport leaders for their huge contribution.
