Year 6 Sports Day

Congratulations to the Celts who came out on top in the year 6 Sports Day. It was a close run event throughout with all of the pupils making a valuable contribution. A number of athletes stepped up and filled in for absentees and this team spirit was a theme throughout the day. Records were set in the turbo javelin by Oliver May (15m 40) and Annie Bell (7m 10). Xander Squire and Olivia Stovell also set new records in the shot put with distances of 6m 50 and 4m 10 respectively. Phoebe Robinson and Libby Halford equalled the record of the high jump with a height of 1m 20.

The track events were a joy to watch with so many strong performances. Poppy Stevenson had a commanding day with wins in the 80m and 800m. Meghan Pilbeam took 1st place in the 200m and Libby got another first place finish in the 1500m. In the boys 80m we were tantalising close to a record and dare I say a different direction in the wind would have probably made a significant difference. Noah Burden won the 80m final in a very tight race. The 200m was even closer with a photo finish needed to distinguish first place for Xavier and second for Zak. In the 1500 metres Noah Dunne ran a beautiful race with Toby Fielder, Henry Hector and Emile Doran not far behind.

It was great to have a House Sports day again and thank you so much for all the sport leaders and staff who worked so hard.
