Year 8 football vs Millfield

On the 1st of March Hugh Sexeys Year 8s welcomed Millfield to play in a 7 aside match. The two teams had already played this season but this game was on a smaller pitch meaning the team had to adapt their playing style. The team started strongly playing some unbelievable football out from the back and through all three thirds of the pitch and were rewarded with a goal when the ball fell to Alfie and he rifled the ball into the back of the net. Huge credit to our defenders Harry and Harry who continued to show great composure when receiving the ball under pressure to allow the team to play out from the back. Millfield were fast to react after conceding and equalised after a fine move fell to their striker and his shot deflected into the goal. But on the stroke of half time Dillon picked up the ball showed fantastic skill to beat a couple of defenders and put a great cross into the box where Declan was able to finish. The team went into the half 2-1 up. Striker Archie came onto the pitch at half time and made an immediate impact when after a fine save by Millfields keeper he was able to pounce on the rebound and extend the teams lead to 2. Millfield then began to put pressure on the team and forced goalkeeper Josh into a number of fine stops, eventually Millfield got their reward and scored to set up a thrilling ending to the game. In the final minute Hugh Sexeys continued to attack and Charlie produced some brilliant skill and smashed the ball against the crossbar the ball then fell to captain Jack who took a great touch to set himself and thundered the ball into to top corner to confirm the win for Hugh Sexey. A massive credit to both teams who put on a really high quality game of football which could have gone either way.
