Match Report Millfield rugby 23rd November
On the 23rd of November, the Hugh Sexeys year 8s Rugby 7s team travelled down to Millfield to compete against three other schools. The matches consisted of 7s Rugby and three 5 minutes thirds. The boys knew that it was going to be a tough day as they were competing against a number of Schools who have had greater exposure to the 7s game. The wintery conditions were not ideal conditions for 7s but it was nice to provide another opportunity for our enthusiastic rugby players. Our first game was against Millfield; it was a tough game in which Millfield came away with the win, however there was some good tackles from Evan and Tom. Ted also continued to show his growing promise as a distributor and runner. The second game against Bishop School proved to be another tough match, however it was tighter than the last with all the players putting in a good and honest performance. Will showed good driving runs towards the opposition throughout. Into the last game, where the boys really wanted to put everything into it. In the first couple of minutes of the game, Tom ran past two players and then offloaded to Evan who scored a lovely try which was very satisfying to watch. The boys showed what they could do but unfortunately it was the last game. The game ended and Clifton College just snatched the win, however it was a good display from the boys. Thank you to Millfield who put on a great event which the boys enjoyed and learned a lot about what is needed to be successful in rugby 7s.
