• National Young Farmers

  Five students from Hugh Sexey planted a pear tree at the front of the school.  This is for an environmental tree planting initiative.

   

  The five are Emily, Kathryn, Maddie, Megan and Tom and they were representing the National Young Farmers for Wedmore.

   

  Maddie has also become a national finalist in a meme competition for National Young Farmers.

   

  

• Mendip Junior Cross Country League - Race 1

  Well done to our Year 5 and 6 runners for a fantastic effort at the first race of the Mendip Junior Cross Country League.

   

  On what had been a very rainy day, the sun managed to come out in time for the 2 kilometre race at Millfield Prep School in Glastonbury.

   

  Ruby, Fynn and Oscar all achieved top 10 places and top 20 finishes too for Grace, Alice, Jamie and Ronnie.

   

  The girls team were 4th out of 23 schools and the boys team 2nd out of 19 schools.

   

  Great to see nine debutants running for Hugh Sexey; Grace, Alice, Iris, Ewart, Jamie, Jules, Fergus, George and Ronnie.

   

  Thank you also to Finley Halford for running as the hare in all four races at the fixture.

   

  

• National Lifesaving Award

  Well done to Sophie in year 7 for winning the junior girls national life saving award. Sophie undertook a number of challenges in lifesaving and was awarded with first place at the end of the day. Sophie has worked very hard for this honour and hopes to proceed further in this field.
