  • The Hugh Sexey Mustangs qualify for National Championships.

Thu 13 May 2021 Mrs Lovell

    I

After a recent trip to Dorset’s showground the Hugh Sexey equestrian team has some exciting news- they achieved their goal and have qualified for the national championships at Stoneleigh in August!

Emilia McCutcheon has joined the team and she got off to a great start helping the team to win the 70cms class.  With Emilia’s arrival the Hugh Sexey Mustangs now have a team in both the 60cms and 70cms competition; some of the riders have also qualified as individuals, including Lulu, Ferris and Hattie. With some shows still to go until the end of the qualifying year (30th June) the children could improve on their ranking even further!

  • Mental Health Awareness Week 10-16 May.

Mon 10 May 2021 Mr McGrath
Next week is mental health awareness week. The theme this year is nature. Please take some time to explore its surroundings and connect with the wider world. This link https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/campaigns/mental-health-awareness-week?utm_source=ppc_google&utm_medium=paid_ads&utm_campaign=mhaw21_awareness&gclid=Cj0KCQjwytOEBhD5ARIsANnRjVjkB7bxxOmW6pEK1CdyYIdH3PM2VsVRsCamI2yKzbesP8gZawa3b4UaAlYTEALw_wcB has some excellent ideas and resources you may wish to explore. It would be great if pupils could share their experiences with form tutors.

The three areas to address are:

Experiencing nature -By taking the time to recognise and grow a connection with nature. Take a moment to notice and celebrate nature in your daily lives.

Sharing nature - By taking photos, videos or sound recordings and sharing the connections you've made during the week to inspire others. The Hugh Sexey community can join the discussion on how we're connecting with nature by using the hashtag #ConnectWithNature #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

Talking about nature - Discuss in families, friendship groups and communities how you can help encourage people to find new ways to connect with nature in your local area.
  • Year 7s Feed the birds.

Tue 04 May 2021 Miss Latti

Year 7 pupils have been learning how to design and manufacture an innovative prototype for a bird house/ bird feeder using reclaimed materials (timbers/metal) to help reduce the environmental impact of wastage and unnecessary production of new materials. Pupils have created some great bird houses which are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Well done!
