Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Today 11 Year 8 Sports Leaders went to East Brent Primary School to work with a Year 3 class on team Building activities.
Due to the poor weather we had to use the hall - we were hoping to be outside and have considerably more space. As a result we had to change some activities and think on the spot what we could do; the Year 8s rose to the challenge and did this very well.
The Sports Leaders were fantastic. They came up with some great activities for the Year 3 children to engage in and made it challenging for them to work as a team.
Here are some photos of them in action with the Year 3 class. They were superb, thank you very much, from Mr Waterfield.

WOW Week update... Thursday and Friday
Now that the pupils have returned back from Chepstow, they are busy preparing for their KS2 drama presentation. This afternoon (Friday) each tutor group will present a scene from an original mummers play, entitled ‘The Dragon, the Carrots and the Clumsy Jester’ written by University of the West of England PGCE trainees Emma Dawson and Becky Rousell. The preparation is going brilliantly and we are all excited to see the final product.
Wow Week Update: Wednesday 15 June - Trip to Chepstow Castle
Today, Year 7 pupils travelled to Chepstow Castle in Wales, to visit the Medieval Fayre and Castle. Some of the pork pies and potage that they pupils made in their workshops earlier in the week were served. Pupils visited a Medieval Fayre, hosted by PGCE trainees from UWE, where they were able to participate in active learning, through making medieval crafts, including felting, metal work, leather stamping, pottery and also has a 'go' at medieval sporting activity such as crossbow shooting, trebuchet launching, and quoits. They also toured the castle which dates back, in parts, to the reign of William the Conqueror. As they toured the castle they met 'Living History Actors', and they were able to ask them questions about what life would have been like for them when they lived at the castle. We were very lucky about the weather with only a few showers falling during our lunch break (where we were able to take cover under the trees). The pupils were beautifully behaved, fully engaged, and I'm sure gained a great deal from the experience
Wow week is underway. This week HSMS are excited to be hosting 20 PGCE teacher trainees from the University of the West of England (UWE). The trainees are working with pupils and running eight Medieval Britain themed cross-curricular workshops, where pupils are expanding their understanding about what it was like to live in Medieval times. Although the workshops are history based, they all incorporate a wide range of other subject areas and skills (textiles, art, food tech, DT, drama, science, maths, and, of course, a history workshop - on the life of Knights). So far it looks like the pupils are having a lot of fun and learning a great deal too. We visit Chepstow castle on Wednesday, and by Friday each tutor group will have prepared a scene of a Mummers play to present to KS2 in the afternoon.
