Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Somerset Cup versus Kings Hall - Tuesday 12th December
On Tuesday the girls travelled to Kings Hall in Taunton to play the Somerset Schools Cup.
On a very wet, miserable, and cold day the girls were totally up for a game of football and didn't let the weather beat them.
Hugh Sexey's won the game 4-1, with hat trick from our 'goal machine' Thurling, and a goal scored by Slater. Considering the weather was awful, I was very impressed with the quality of football the girls played; they are a team and they played as a team.
Many thanks goes to Kings Hall for the great hospitality - the girls loved their sausage and chips after the game.
ESFA Nationals Cup versus Crispin - Thursday 14th December
We were very glad to hear that we had been drawn to play a local school, Crispin, for this away National game, as we could have been playing anywhere in the South West.
Hugh Sexey's were dominant right from the first whistle, applying pressure on Crispin, playing decent passing football and putting all the goals into the back of the net.
Credit must go to Crispin for not giving up - they were a credit to their school.
.Goals - Slater x4, Thurling x2, Catley-Day x2, Griffiths x1, Pargeter x1, Woodcock x1 and Durrant x1.
Well done girls - absolutely terrific performances. Your dedication and effort in training has been outstanding. Mr Lamb and I have been so impressed with the whole girls' football programme at Hugh Sexey's; to have over 50 girls wanting to play school football is wonderful to see.
We now break up for Christmas and look forward to coming back in January and continuing the great cup run
Have a well deserved rest and great Christmas everyone!

Busking for the Amber Trust
On Thursday 7th December, Poppy (playing the violin), Millie Jo (singing), Rosie (singing), Rosie (singing) and Matilda (playing the flute) busked in the school playground, playing christmas carols and ‘Spring’ from Vivaldi.
We were raising money for the Amber Trust, a charity that helps blind or partially sighted children through music.
They have established The Amber Music Awards which pay for music lessons, music therapy sessions, musical instruments, music software such as Sibelius, concert tickets and travel related to musical activities.
It is a great charity and we thank everyone who gave us their spare change, you have made a difference however much you gave. We are very grateful and extremely proud to support this amazing charity!
We also hope to be busking again for the Amber Trust in Wells on Sunday, weather permitting!

The Amber Trust: 'Music is not just a pastime, it’s a lifeline'
Pupils in Year 7 have been working in teams to design and make a range of hand crafted Christmas products to be sold in the DT Christmas Fair on Monday 11th December and Tuesday 12th December. All proceeds will go to charity of Year 7 choice (tbc).
Pupils will be selling Christmas food products, Christmas decorations and gifts made from textiles and wood.
This year's theme was "The Future of Peace"
Congratulations to Matilda, 8DJ, whose poster has been chosen as the winner of the Lions International Peace Poster Contest 2017-18 at Hugh Sexey C of E Middle School.
Well done also to the two Runners up, Suzanna (8EF) and Beth (8RT), and to all of the pupils in Year 8 who took part in this annual competition. The posters are judged on their originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the theme, which this 30th Anniversary Year was “The Future of Peace”. The judges were particularly impressed with the many thoughtful ways in which pupils had expressed the theme. The President of Cheddar Vale Lions Club will present Matilda, Suzanna and Beth with their certificates and prizes at an assembly in the New Year.
Matilda’s poster will now be judged in the SW District level of the contest, so we wish her good luck and continued success.
